22 Jun 2010 - Peugeot 206 (1998-) Review
Popular little hatchback that's been at the top for many years, does it have what it takes to stay there?
The 206 is certainly popular no doubt about that. Its stylish design and low running costs have made it a superb choice for anyone looking for a small hatchback.
Entry level engines seem a little overworked and make for a noisy ride on long journeys. 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 petrol engines are better and performance GTI models are very rapid. Diesel brings economy but early models can be noisy and not very refined.
For all its style on the outside the 206 is let down by its cabin. The poor plastics give it a rather cheap and poor quailty feel.
Handling is good and it responds well in corners, watch for suspension wear on early models though.
Peugeot's little hatch has had a good run but now looks a little long in the tooth compared to some rivals.
